Are you Afraid of Spiders?

Last year I wanted to make something special for Halloween and the Spider was my Muse.

As a weaver, I can’t help but admire their work.

I’ve been compared to a spider a few times recently. 🕷 I wasn’t sure if I should take it as a compliment but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve decided that I am like a spider. 🕷

They build their empires out of mandalas in the sky, they spin their lace intricately and strong. They weave their intentions into their work when they’re done, they wait for what they want to naturally come to them.

I wanted to make a top with a spider web as the centerpiece.

I made a simple halter frame and then crocheted the webs onto myself as I was wearing it (as shown in the video). I originally designed the top with a large spider made of jewels sitting at the top of the neck.

This year, I styled it with statement spider earrings and of course, my favorite red lipstick of all time Russian Red by MAC.

Spiders may be creepy little creatures but they are quite talented weavers. Perhaps if you're like me, you can relate.

I love a very deep blue-based red with a matte finish. Russian Red DOES NOT MOVE especially when you line it with the matching lip liner and that is why it is my go-to!
