Flora Sweater

It was the Spring of 2020 and everything had been shut down.

I was fortunate to spend my quarantine with my family at my parent’s ranch in California. Though it was nice to be with family, we all got stir-crazy with limited activities and days that seemed to blend into one another. With all the free time I crocheted so many new things that were inspired by the simple things in life. One of my favorite things to do each day was taking walks with my sisters around the neighborhood and looking at the newly blooming wildflowers that grow like crazy in the early spring. The photos above were taken of my sister on one of our walks.

It was a scary time for all of us but the wildflowers gave me hope. They showed me that life always finds a way and even in a hostile world, things as innocent and delicate as flowers still thrived.

I designed the Flora Sweater with one of my favorite floral motifs. The motif was perfect for the days that can’t seem to make up their mind about being hot or cold. They let enough breeze in for the sunny moments but were cozy enough to keep warm when the temperature suddenly dropped. Usually, I add a cuff to my sweaters but this design begged to be a bell sleeve.

I had a small but mighty testing team for Flora.

I called two of my ride-or-die gals that are not only great testers but also have great style. Denise Clark used Lion Brand Coboo Yarn in a beautiful blush for her sweater and Brittney Hawkins used Premier Home Cotton in a stunning sage.

I felt I created something truly magical to celebrate springtime wildflowers while making a bold fashion statement. I hope that everyone who wears Flora will feel wrapped in the magic of Springtime Flowers.
